Phototaxiksen loppunäyttelyt pidetään Aletheia festissa 3.8.2024 Raaseporissa sekä 20.8-1.9.2024 Helsingin Pitkäkoskenniityllä. Tervetuloa!

Phototaxis’ final exhibitions will be held at Aletheia fest on August 3, 2024 in Raasepori and August 20st – September 1st. at Helsinki’s Pitkäkoskenniity. Welcome!

Pitkäkosken näyttelyn teosten toiminta riippuu sääolosuhteista, eikä näyttely ole auki sadepäivinä. Tarkistathan siis täältä ennen tuloasi, että näyttely on varmasti auki. Aukiolotiedot päivitetään jokaisen näyttelypäivän aamuna klo 10.

Näyttelypaikalle pääsee kävellen 560 pysäkiltä Kuninkaantammenaukio, ja autolla Pitkäkosken majan parkkipaikalle saakka. Huomaa, että Kuninkaantammentietä kunnostetaan, ja majalle on ajettava Vedenkiertoa pitkin.

The exhibition site can be reached on foot from the 560 stop Kuninkaantammenaukio, and by car to the Pitkäkoski hut parking lot. Please note that Kuninkaantammentie is being renovated, and you have to drive along Vedenkierto to the cabin.

Welcome!

Phototaxis on taideprojekti, jonka tavoitteena on luoda teoksia luonnonympäristöön, eräänlainen pyhäkkö tai utopistinen tila, jossa luonto ja taide parhaassa tapauksessa kohtaavat synergisesti. Hanke kurottaa yhteyteen luonnon kanssa niin viimeaikaisen valosaatetutkimusten, AR -teknologian kuin myyttien sekä esihistoriallisten ja astronomisten vaikuttimien avulla ja rakentaa kokonaisuuden, jossa uusi ja vanha, menneisyys ja tulevaisuus, myyttinen ja rationaalinen kohtaavat.

Näyttely tuo niitylle auringonkierron kanssa asemoituja, Unity -pelimoottoria hyödyntäviä AR- teoksia (augmented reality) ja performatiivisia aurinkoseuraajaveistoksia. Näyttelyn toteutukseen on kuulunut yhteistöitä muun muassa Flyar AR -studion, luonnontieteilijöiden, Suomen arkeoastronomisen seuran ja insinöörin kanssa. Taiteilija Anu Raatikainen on paikalla koko näyttelyn ajan.

Näyttelyn toteutusta ja taiteilijan työskentelyä rahoittaa Koneen säätiö ja projektiin kuului myös tutkiva työskentelyjakso Koneen säätiön Saaren kartanon residenssissä, suuri kiitos tuesta ja mahdollistamisesta! Lisäksi näyttelyä sponsoroi myös autovuokraamo 24rent. Iso kiitos myös Helsingin Hacklabille ja kaikille sen jäsenille sekä Helsinki XR Centerille.

Anu Raatikainen on Kuvataideakatemiasta valmistunut (KuM, joulu 2017) monialainen kuvataiteilija. Hän on valmistumisensa jälkeen tehnyt näyttelyihin tähtääviä monialaisia projekteja, jotka ovat yhdistäneet muun muassa valoa, kuvanveistoa, piirustusta, elektroniikkaa, animaatioita, performanssia ja erilaisia yhteistöitä. Valo on esiintynyt läpäisevänä teemana ja materiaalina Raatikaisen töissä, minkä lisäksi hän on toiminut valontaiteen parissa myös kuratoinnissa ja yhdistystoiminnassa.

Phototaxis is an art project whose goal is to create works in the natural environment, a kind of sanctuary or an utopian space where in the best case nature and art meet synergistically. The project reaches out to connect with nature with the help of recent light transmission studies, AR technology as well as myths and prehistoric and astronomical motifs – and builds a whole where new and old, the past and the future, the mythical and the rational meet.

The exhibition brings to the meadow AR works (augmented reality) using Unity game engine and performative solar tracker sculptures positioned on the field according to the annual solar cycle. The implementation of the exhibition has included collaborations with, among others, the Flyar AR studio, natural scientists, the Finnish Archaeoastronomical Society, and an engineer. Artist Anu Raatikainen will be present throughout the exhibition.

The creation of the exhibition and the artist’s work are supported by the Kone Foundation, and the project also included a period of research work at the Kone Foundation’s Saari residence, thank you very much for the support and making it possible! In addition, the exhibition is also sponsored by car rental 24rent. A warm thanks also to Helsinki Hacklab and all its members as well as Helsinki XR Center.

Anu Raatikainen is a multidisciplinary visual artist who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (MFA, December 2017). After graduating, she has done multidisciplinary projects, which have combined, among other things, light, sculpture, drawing, electronics, animation, performance and various collaborative works. Light has appeared as a pervasive theme and material in Raatikainen’s works, besides which she has also worked with light art in curating and association activities.
